How many porta potties does a job site need?

A job site needs 1 porta potty for up to 20 workers, then 1 seat and 1 urinal for every 40 workers, under OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51 Table D-1. Once a site reaches 200 workers, the ratio becomes 1 seat and 1 urinal per 50. Each standard unit we rent has both, so it counts as one full set.

This is the legal floor. Each of our standard units has a seat and a urinal, so one unit equals one seat-and-urinal set.
Crew sizeOSHA floor (29 CFR 1926.51, Table D-1)Worked example
1–20 workers1 toiletA 5-person framing crew in Killeen: 1 unit
21–199 workers1 seat plus 1 urinal for every 40 workers120 workers ÷ 40 = 3 units
200 or more1 seat plus 1 urinal for every 50 workers230 workers ÷ 50 = 4.6, so 5 units

The rule versus what works. OSHA sets the minimum. We plan about 1 unit per 10 workers on a 40-hour week with one weekly cleaning, because a 60-gallon tank fills faster than the rule expects.

Crews working 50-hour weeks, or any crew in July heat, should add a second weekly visit. Read the rule at 29 CFR 1926.51 on eCFR, or run your crew size on the calculator's crew tab.

Do construction sites need a hand wash station?

Construction sites need washing facilities under OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51(f) whenever workers apply paint, coatings, herbicides or pesticides, or handle other harmful materials. The rule calls for running or tepid water, soap and towels. For everyday framing and roofing crews, a station is optional but cuts down on sick days.

Our two-sink station holds 22 gallons, about 350 washes, and we refill it each week. See hand wash station specs, and read the full OSHA toilet rules for Central Texas job sites.

Can you deliver to job sites on Fort Hood?

Yes. Commercial trucks enter Fort Hood through the North Clarke Road truck inspection gate off westbound I-14/US-190, and every person in the truck is checked against FBI databases. Give us the contracting officer or site contact and the building number, and book on-post deliveries at least a day ahead.

Where should a job site porta potty go?

Put a job site porta potty on level ground within about 100 feet of where our service truck can stop, clear of trenches, crane swing areas and material drops. Turn the door away from the street. On sloped lots west of Killeen and in Copperas Cove, pick the flattest pad near the site entrance.

A few cities we serve spell out job site toilets. Cedar Park's residential guidelines say a "Port-o-can must be provided, to services area of no more than four houses," checked at the building layout inspection (Cedar Park residential guideline packet). See our Cedar Park page.

Which Killeen-area projects need job site toilets?

Killeen-area projects that need job site toilets include the city's road program, with Watercrest Road at $11 million and Chaparral Road at $100 million, new subdivisions such as Victory Ranch, and big builds nearby like the US 190 widening through Copperas Cove and data centers in Temple.

How are construction rentals billed?

Construction porta potty rentals bill every 28 days and include one weekly visit to pump, clean, deodorize and restock. The rental renews until you call, and billing stops that day. Extra cleanings, moving a unit on site and same-day drop-offs are priced per trip and shown on the quote.

From our customer callsA residential roofing contractor called after his usual supplier missed a delivery. He needed one unit that day for a 3-day job. Same-day delivery solved it, but it carried a same-day fee. Ordering the day before the crew starts avoids that fee. (From our recorded calls, 2025.)

Construction Site Toilets: common questions

Can you deliver to a lot with no street address yet?

Yes. Send a map pin, cross streets or the lot and block number, plus a site contact's phone.

Can I rent a unit for a 3-day roofing job?

Yes, as a short-term rental. Same-day delivery is available, but ordering a day ahead skips the same-day fee.

Do you take purchase orders?

Yes, for commercial accounts. Ask about monthly statements and net terms.

Can the unit move as the job moves?

Yes. We relocate units on site for a per-move fee, and towable units suit road crews.

What if a unit tips over or gets damaged?

Call right away. We clean up and swap the unit. Damage from misuse or vandalism is billed under our rental terms.
