How hot do Killeen summers get for a porta potty?

Killeen summers get very hot for a porta potty. Waco, the nearest official National Weather Service station, has a normal July high of 96.7°F, and 100-degree days usually run from early July to late August. Killeen's record high is 112°F, and Waco logged 90 days at 100°F or more in 2011.

How does heat change cleaning?

Heat speeds up bacteria and evaporation in the holding tank, so odor builds faster than in cooler months. For any unit used by more than 10 people a day from June through September, we recommend two cleanings a week. Each visit pumps the tank, adds fresh deodorizer and restocks paper.

Where should a unit sit in summer?

In summer, set the porta potty in afternoon shade, such as the north or east side of a building, or under a tree with no low limbs over the roof. Turn the door away from the afternoon sun and keep the roof vents clear. Shade keeps the inside cooler and slows odor.

Do summer events need more units?

Yes. PSAI suggests 20 to 30 percent more units for events at 80°F or hotter, because guests drink more water. In whole units, add 1 for every 4 on the chart. A 500-guest, 6-hour event that needs 7 units in spring needs 9 in a Killeen summer.

From our customer callsA homeowner booked one standard unit for a month-long remodel starting the next day. For a month-long summer job like that, we suggest adding a second weekly cleaning from June to September. (From our recorded calls, 2025–2026.)

How do you keep crews safe in the heat?

Keep crews safe by pairing restrooms with water, shade and rest breaks. Workers who skip water to avoid restroom trips raise their heat risk. Put the porta potty and a hand wash station close to the work area and the water cooler, and keep the unit clean so crews actually use it.

Fast answers

Do porta potties smell worse in summer?

Yes. Heat speeds odor. Shade and extra cleaning solve most of it.

Can I add a second cleaning only for summer?

Yes. Add it for June through September and drop it after.

Are restroom trailers better in the heat?

Trailers have air conditioning, but they need a 20-amp circuit.

What deodorizer do you use?

A blue tank treatment added at every cleaning.
